Doncic y Cunningham, elegibles para los premios de la temporada de la NBA

La NBA estableció un mínimo de 65 partidos disputados de la regular season para ser elegible para los premios de final de campaña. Luka Doncic y Cade Cunningham, ambos protagonistas de una brillante temporada se quedaban fuera por muy poco, por problemas físicos y la liga ha optado por abrir el capítulo de excepciones.

Doncic ha participado en 64 encuentros antes de sufrir una lesión muscular. Además, el esloveno se perdió dos partidos en diciembre tras asistir al nacimiento en Eslovenia de su segunda hija. La NBA ha tenido en cuenta ambos condicionantes.

Y en cuanto a Cade Cunningham, el base de los Pistons había disputado 63 encuentros cuando sufrió un colapso pulmonar que le hizo perderse 12 partidos.

La polémica ha estado presente, como no podía ser de otra forma, toda vez que Anthony Edwards, escolta de los Timberwolves, ha quedado fuera de esa condición de elegible tras disputar 60 partidos.

Awa Fam, Iyana Martín y Marta Suárez hacen historia en el draft de la WNBA

Awa Fam, Iyana Martín y Marta Suárez fueron elegidas en el draft de la WNBA y lo hicieron en posiciones de honor. Desde 2019 no había tres jugadoras españolas en la primera ronda del sorteo y, entonces, no fueron seleccionadas en puestos tan altos.

Awa Fam, pívot de 19 años y 1,95, fue seleccionada con el número 3 por las Seattle Storm y se convirtió en la española elegida más arriba en el draft. Hasta ahora ese honor lo tenía Raquel Carrera, que fue número 15, y que precisamente ha firmado este año con las New York Liberty.

Por su parte, Iyana Martín, base de 20 años y 1,75, fue la opción de las Portland Fire, con el número 7, que retendrán sus derechos, aún habiendo pactado con la jugadora que este verano no jugará con ellas ya que ha optado por parar y descansar. 

Y Marta Suárez, alero de 22 años y 1,91, fue elegida por las Seattle Storm en el puesto 16, pero fue traspasada a las Golden State Valkyries.

Azzi Fudd, base de 1,80 y 23 años, fue la número 1 del sorteo, seleccionada por las Dallas Wings. Y Olivia Miles, base de 1,78 y 23 años, fue la opción por la que se decantaron las Minnesota Lynx.
